Artifact:
Description:
This mission and vision statement was created in summer 2017 as part of the course GDIT 701: Professional Leadership in Instructional Technology with Dr. David Carbonara. The course was focused on how to be a leader and what leadership skills looked like in the development of a shared vision in the teaching and learning process. Throughout the course, I completed two assignments that most closely address standard 1a.
The mission and vision statement was the first and the second was a strategic leadership plan for an organization. I tied these two assignments together by writing my mission and vision statements on the same institution on which I wrote my strategic plan leadership paper. The goal of both assignments was to imagine an institution that we would like to develop or support.
Reflection:
During the course, we learned what it meant to be a leader, how to build a shared vision process, and how to appropriately involve stakeholders. Both papers showcase the steps that I would take in order to create a successful educational program that would help students utilize resources in order to maximize their learning goals. I used personal experiences of what I believed would have benefited me the most as a student to help design the program STEAM Rocks.
Moving forward, both of these documents will help as I move into more administration-type roles in the K-12 setting. These assignments allowed me to start from the very beginning and utilize the leadership skills that I had learned in order to make the most successful program possible. My goal is to be able to use these skills to create programs to benefit students of all ages by focusing on specific educational goals and involving all of the necessary stakeholders.
