I.D.  Research, problem solving and product development of technological applications including:
  • Basic principles of instructional design associated with the development of instructional technology materials

  • emerging programming, authoring, and problem solving environments including team and collaborative projects such as on-line work groups

  • designing and publishing on-line documents that present information and include links to critical resources

Reflection: During the 512 course, I gained a lot of experience using different methods of instructional design to create lessons for students of all ages. After learning about various design models including ADDIE, Dick and Carey, and Kemp, I worked with my peers to create a project demonstrating the implementation of one of these models. In the course I also worked to create an interactive PowerPoint. My coursework in GDIT 720 also helped me create materials using the Kemp model for an iTunes University course on the Spiritans. GILT 520 allowed me to explore a variety of technologies as I created an Integrated Thematic Unit.

Rating: Exceeds expectation

Artifacts:

  • I worked collaboratively with an online group in order to create a detailed technology plan. Through weekly Skype meetings and email communications, we were able to work together to complete the final product. The Technology Plan can be found below.

  • I worked with a group of my peers to develop a month-long unit using the ADDIE model. Each of us completed one week of the unit, and then we used the information in our unit plan to create a presentation for our peers.

  • In GILT 520, I learned extensively about instructional design and some of the necessary steps in creating resources for students and educators. Through the creation of my Integrated Thematic Unit, I used many best practices of design. A paper copy of the unit can be found here.

  • In GILT 512, I created an interactive PowerPoint that focused on the proces of instructional design. This assignment was due in three parts, and allowed my professor to provide feedback throughout the design process. My first submission was a basic outline, my second submission was a revision that included additional information, and my final presentation combined all of my content with revisions from feedback. Due to the size of the file, the final presentation is uploaded to my Google Drive which makes the links inactive. For a working copy of this file, please email me.

  • In GDIT 707, Instructional Technology Design and Leadership, we spent the entire semester looking at various programming platforms including code.org, Scratch, Scratch Jr., Daisy the Dino, Hopscotch, and Alice 3. After learning more about each, I chose to dedicate my final project to writing a grant in order to obtain hardware to implement the CS curriculum from code.org.
