Standard F
The online teacher is cognizant of the diversity of student academic needs and incorporates accommodations into the online environment.
Reflection: The intended class for this lesson contains twenty-students. There is one student who is in the ESL program (her first language is Spanish), and there are two students with special needs (ADHD and learning disabilities). In designing my course, I paid close attention to their needs in order to make the material accessible for all students. Modifications and differentiation that I made for the students can be found in the Course Overview document located in the Teacher Information folder on Schoology. Through the courses at Duquesne University, I have learned the importance of making sure to differentiate instruction for all learners. I have taken several special education courses, and even the IT classes do an excellent job of incorporating it into the coursework. Earlier in GILT, after reading an article by Hashey & Stahl (2014), I created a website to display what I learned about accessibility in online learning.
