The online teacher demonstrates competencies in creating and implementing assessments in online learning environments in ways that ensure validity and reliability of the instruments and procedures.
Reflection: I used a variety of assessments for my online course in order to allow students to succeed in many different ways. Because I am a fan of EdPuzzle for its quick-and-easy progress tracking, I included two of these as reviews from previous lessons. By allowing the students to view a short video and answer a couple related questions, they can quickly get in the proper mindset for learning. I also provided two different ways for students to submit the StudyJams Universe worksheet. If they wanted they had the option of downloading a traditional worksheet, filling it out, and then re-uploading. They also were able to fill out the answers to all of the same questions using a Google Form. I wanted to make sure I met my students’ needs in allow them different methods to complete the assignments. By providing three different rubrics (discussion board, critical thinking, and TuxPaint Planet Representation) I gave my students explicit details on how they would be graded. I also used Schoology to create the final quiz for the unit.
