Reflection: I worked hard to understand how to use Schoology to make the most effective course possible. Because I only had prior experience in Blackboard, I spent a lot of time making sure that I was doing everything that I could to organize my materials and upload them in a way that was useful for students. Schoology has a nice feature that allows users to browse through materials simply by clicking “Prev” or “Next.” This feature is especially great for younger students as it eliminates the need to switch between multiple pages and, ultimately, split their attention. Additionally, I made use of the features which enabled me to embed content, and I test all of my links several times to make sure that they would work for students. In order to keep formatting on documents, I uploaded most of my content as PDFs (except for those that students would need to complete). This format also prevents information from accidentally getting changed. All of the materials that I chose or made were specifically designed with students (and the academic standard and objectives) in mind. I tried to avoid including activities that were trivial and not useful for student learning or the overall course.

To access my Online Course about the solar system, you need to create a free Schoology account. Once you have created your account, you’ll see the word “Courses” on your main page. If you click that button you should see the word “Join.” Clicking the word join will produce a pop-up asking for your Access Code. The access code for my online unit is 5SBVH-WMGKN. Then you can view my entire course!

I have provided a couple screenshots of the different areas of my course in order to show how I meet or exceed the standards.
