V.B. Curriculum and Instruction
  1. Presents clear connections between theory and practice in curricular and instructional leadership.

Reflection:The first task of the practicum course was to learn more about how to educate teachers in technological pedagogical content knowledge (TCPK). Though I had thought about this a lot from an educator’s perspective. It was important to look at TCPK from the perspective of an instructional technology specialist.

    Rating: Exceeds expectation

Artifacts: This is the paper that I wrote that examines how to best teach teachers how to develop TCPK in order to best use technology in their instructional practices.

  2. Participates in the development, assessment and/or refinement of standards-based curriculum.

Reflection:In creating the development session, I spent a lot of time looking at both Pennsylvania Academic Standards, their alignment to Common Core, and the ISTE standards. All of my lessons included both a PA and an ISTE standard that most closely aligned to the content.

    Rating: Exceeds expectation

Artifacts:After acknowledging feedback from Dr. Carbonara, I made revisions to my initial design section, when I created materials for the student development.

  3. Demonstrates knowledge, skills and dispositions related to one’s leadership responsibility to support curricular and instructional excellence.

Reflection: In creating the staff content, I made sure to make activities that my colleagues would be willing and exciting to participate in, because I know that professional development sessions can be difficult if they are not engaging. It was important to recognize what the staff members needed to learn, but I did my best to allow my colleagues opportunities to work together in order to lessen the stress that some staff members may feel when using technology.

    Rating: Exceeds expectation

Artifacts: This is the revised staff design that I created after feedback from my initial design.

  4. Creates a vision for student success and a positive school climate that supports equal access to curricular and instructional excellence.

Reflection:In designing my student lessons, I wanted to make sure that students were introduced and familiar with the newest technologies. I also wanted to make sure that the lesson content was at the forefront of the teaching. In each of the lessons, the content was the absolute most important, and technology was used to help teach the content; the technology was not meant to be the focus.

    Rating: Exceeds expectation

Artifacts: This is the revised student design for my field experience.
